DADT Stays on.

The US Senate today struck down a bill that would end DADT with a vote of 56-43. 60 votes was needed to pass the bill. The voting was along party lines with 2 Democrats voting to keep DADT


The controversial DADAt, Don't ask, don't tell - the policy restricting US military from efforts to discover or reveal service members or applicants sexual orientation, while barring openly gay, lesbian, or bisexual from military service.


In 1993, then President Bill Clinton signed an executive order which bans gays from serving openly in the military. There's a study of 400,000 military personnel is underway to help guide repeal would be implemented along with associated costs. Questions include problems of sharing common areas with people identified as gay, lesbian, or bisexual.
